John Tordoff – Club Vice Captain and Tigers Captain   mtordoff@aol.com  07775916209

Hi, my name is John Tordoff I am the Tigers Captain for 2021. When I’m not golfing I tune and service pianos around Yorkshire.  I have been a regular member at Waterton Park since 1997 and have also been involved with the Tigers section for many years.   I can certainly say it’s one of the most competitive areas of the club . We play regular matches within the Heavy Woollen League and have friendly matches with other clubs which we maintain strong connections with.   The handicap limit is 15 and we have members between there and scratch, thus making it a very competitive group. We hope to get some matches in 2021 and you will be made very welcome and will get to play.  Please make yourself known to myself or Ryan Nock this years Tigers Vice Captain.

David Hughes – Seniors Captain       hughesdt54@gmail.com   07710279545

A qualified accountant, I have spent most of my career in senior financial roles within the sports industry. I was born locally and have lived in Walton for nearly 30 years. I have been a member at Waterton for 25 years joining shortly after it first opened.  I was instrumental in founding the Rabbits Section and was their first Captain in 1999, in the early 2000's I was Chairman of Handicaps and Competitions and was also actively involved with the organisation of the Saturday morning fiddle for over 10 years until it's demise at the end of 2010.The latter encouraged members to socialise and play with a diverse range of players of different abilities and this is the same ethos that we have achieved though the thrice weekly Seniors Roll Up, let's hope we can get back to that soon. Despite not being able to currently get together for our roll ups we will continue to encourage this camaraderie through our seasonal events (Mike O'Donnell, Bill Parkin and Richard Doncaster), a number of away days and some inter club matches.

Hi. Nige, Captain of the rabbits for the third year. The Rabbits section is a way to get into fun golf playing friendly matches against different clubs both home and away.   We play Thursdays about 4pm with a team of up to 12. All are welcome to join but for the Yorkshire Rabbits you need a handicap index of 15 or above. The Yorkshire Rabbit competitions are played across several courses to win trophies.  We have our Rabbits away weekend moved from last year to Slaley Hall 13-14th June. Currently full but if interested let me know. If you want an introduction to fun golf matches the Rabbits is the place for you.

Lewis Taylor – Juniors Captain

It is a great pleasure to be the Junior captain this year. I’m a green keeper at the golf club as well so I spend most of my time at the golf club too. The age range of the Juniors is from 10-17 with me being the oldest at 17. I have currently been a member at the golf club for just over 3 years now and have worked at the club since July time so a few months now. It is a great privilege to help the younger Juniors as well. Obviously with all the Covid issues this year we don’t have much planed but I’m sure that there will be plenty of little competitions throughout the Juniors when the golf club is back open.

Kevin O’Neill, Junior team organiser - always looking for young players to join the section, please get in touch.     Oneill823@btinternet.com   07966 248466

Gordon Owen - Scratch Captain

Welcome to 2021 scratch league season. Having been successful over the past 3 seasons in the top division finishing joint top twice in league & winning the scratch knockout will be hard to follow but with the support we received from our members was fantastic. We play at 5pm on Monday nights & the golf played by plus handicap golfers is good to watch. first match is away at our local rivals WAKEFIELD on 17th May, followed by WIKE RIDGE away 24th May. Hope all our sections have a successful season golf. Stay safe, GORDON.
